U.S. Senator Arlen Specter is the new Forrest Gump

Remember the movie, “Forrest Gump,” in which Tom Hanks’ quirky character is always stumbling from one historical moment to another?

Apparently, U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter’s life is like that, too. The Pennsylvania turncoat Democrat likes to look at pictures of himself. We just counted 55 on his office lobby walls in Washington for our exclusive vanity study for Slate Magazine — the most comprehensive analysis of Senate office decor in history.

In any case, see how many celebrity friends of Arlen you can name. None of these snapshots are doctored with Photoshop like the Forrest Gump ones….

How many pictures of Arlen Specter’s kids are on the walls? Let’s just say it’s tough cookies for them that they didn’t grow up to be celebrities!

    Hi Darren,
In light of the “no Photoshopping” rubric, are we to believe that Arlen’s head is really the size depicted in the Carter and Clinton shots?

    Mark,

    1. I’m not buying that a senator with the longevity of Specter would ever bother with Photoshopped pics. I hesitate to say any senator would NEVER do it, because who would ever imagine that the Illinois governor would offer to sell his interim senate appointment?

    2. Regarding the technical aspects of Photoshop, I’m not an expert. But look at the size of Specter’s head in the Dr. J shot. Giant ego, giant head!
